Recently, our company, ASPAiER, has collaborated with South Korea’s COSMOS CHEMICALS on a joint R&D initiative, and officially unveiled an innovative technological achievement—integrating Phase Change Material (PCM) technology with high-strength MMA resin for application in anti-slip pavement systems. This technology effectively addresses slip accidents caused by "black ice" on roads during winter, providing a brand-new solution for urban road safety projects.

 

 

Core Technology: When Anti-Slip Pavements Meet Phase Change Materials

 

Traditional anti-slip pavements primarily enhance friction by increasing surface roughness. However, in winter, sudden "black ice" can render even rough surfaces extremely slippery, posing significant safety hazards. The innovation of our co-developed solution lies in endowing anti-slip pavements with "intelligent" temperature regulation capabilities, which are realized based on the inherent properties of phase change materials.

PCM is a type of functional material for energy storage and regulation. Its core advantage lies in its ability to undergo phase transitions (such as solid-liquid conversion) within a specific temperature range, absorbing or releasing substantial latent heat during the process. Therefore, the application of PCM technology leverages the enthalpy change during phase transitions to accurately regulate energy states based on thermodynamics principles. Through reversible conversion between solid and liquid phases, the material achieves efficient energy storage and release.

Based on MMA resin, the product is engineered for long service life and is an environmentally friendly option, free from issues such as cracking, abrasion, discoloration or fading.

The product is especially suitable for road sections with low anti-slip resistance, roads requiring high visibility due to poor flatness and vertical alignment, intersections prone to slip accidents, as well as child protection zones and senior citizen protection zones.
