Profile:

  • Phase change material (PCM) refers to a substance that changes its state and provides latent heat while maintaining a constant temperature. The process of transforming physical properties is called a phase change process, during which the phase change material will absorb or release a large amount of latent heat.
  • The process of transforming a substance from one phase to another. The uniform part in a material system with identical physical and chemical properties and distinct interfaces with other parts is called a phase. Our most common phase change material is water, which changes from liquid to solid (freezes) when the temperature drops to 0°C.
