-10°C Thermal Management PCM Prevents Food From Thawing And Spoiling Due To Temperature Increases During Transportation

Composition and structure:

It usually consists of a suitable phase change material and encapsulation material. Common phase change substances may include some organic compounds with low melting points (such as certain fatty acids, paraffins, etc.) or inorganic salt hydrates, which can undergo phase changes at around -10°C. The encapsulation material is generally a polymer material, etc., which encapsulates the phase change material to form microcapsules or other encapsulation structures, on the one hand, to prevent the leakage of the phase change material, and on the other hand, to facilitate its combination with other application systems. For example, a microencapsulated PCM may have a polymer shell that encloses the phase change material at the core.

Performance characteristics:

1. Efficient heat storage and release capacity
When the temperature reaches around -10°C, the PCM begins to undergo a phase transition. In the process, it absorbs or releases a large amount of heat. For example, when the ambient temperature drops from a higher temperature to -10°C, the PCM changes from a liquid state to a solid state (assuming it is initially liquid above -10°C), releasing a large amount of latent heat, a process that can keep the ambient temperature relatively stable and avoid a sharp drop in temperature. Conversely, when the ambient temperature rises from below -10°C, the PCM changes from a solid state to a liquid state, absorbing heat and preventing the temperature from rising too quickly.
2. Temperature stability
During phase transitions, PCM can remain virtually constant over a relatively narrow temperature range around -10°C, which is important for applications that require high temperature stability. For example, in some cryogenic storage equipment, the -10°C thermal management PCM can ensure that the internal temperature fluctuates little around -10°C, which is conducive to maintaining the quality and performance of stored items.
3. Reusability
PCM is able to withstand multiple phase change cycles without significant degradation in performance. This means that it can be used for repeated thermal storage and release operations over a long period of time with good durability and reliability. For example, in seasonal applications, such as refrigerated transportation in winter, PCM can undergo multiple phase transitions throughout the transport cycle to maintain good thermal management.
4. Adaptability and adjustability
By adjusting the composition, proportion and packaging method of phase change substances, the phase change temperature, heat storage capacity and other properties of PCM can be adjusted to a certain extent to meet the specific needs of -10°C thermal management in different application scenarios. For example, in some special low-temperature experimental environments, the performance parameters of the PCM can be precisely adjusted according to the experimental requirements.

Fields of application:

1. Low temperature refrigeration and transportation
In the refrigerated transportation of food, pharmaceuticals, etc., the -10°C thermal management PCM can be used to maintain a low temperature environment during transportation. When the outside temperature fluctuates, PCM absorbs or releases heat through phase change, ensuring that the goods are always within the appropriate temperature range of about -10°C, ensuring the quality and safety of the goods. For example, when transporting frozen food, PCM prevents the food from thawing and spoiling due to increased temperature during transportation.
2. Low temperature protection of electronic equipment
When some electronic components or devices operate in a low temperature environment, they need to be kept within a certain temperature range to ensure normal operation and stable performance. -10°C thermal management PCMs can be applied to heat dissipation or insulation systems for these electronic devices. For example, in some electronic instruments used outdoors, when the ambient temperature is too low to -10°C, PCM can release heat and prevent the performance of electronic components from being compromised due to low temperatures.
3. Low temperature protection of buildings and facilities
In some buildings or facilities in cold regions, such as cold storage, cryogenic laboratories, etc., -10°C thermal management PCM can be used as part of the insulation material. It can reduce energy consumption by adjusting the temperature indoors or inside the facility through phase change when the outside temperature changes. For example, adding PCM to the wall of the cold storage absorbs the heat when the outside temperature rises, preventing the internal temperature of the cold storage from rising too fast and reducing the operating load of the refrigeration equipment.
4. Scientific research and experiments
In some scientific experiments that require precise control of low temperature environments, -10°C thermal management PCM can be used as an adjunct to temperature control. For example, in cryophysical experiments and cryopreservation of biological samples, PCM can help maintain the temperature stability of the experimental environment and ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental results.
